Personal Information

Bio

Geoff ArcherGeoff has been with Penn Camera for quite a few years and recently decided to to start up his own company as a consultant and contractor in the field of photographic education and I consider my company very fortunate to have convinced him to do Blue Ridge Workshops amongst other things.

He is a wonderful workshop educator, with a low key, quiet demeanor which instantly makes our participants very relaxed and able to learn all of the wonderful things Geoff has to offer.

Geoff has worked in the photo industry, in the Washington DC area, for over 25 years.  During that time he has worked for some of the largest camera stores in the area. His work included helping the professional, amateur, and “weekend warrior” photographer to carefully select and knowledgably use photographic equipment.  He is well versed in the major DSLR cameras, including medium format digital cameras. He is also experienced in large format and high-speed event printers.

Geoff has worked with all branches of the military training their personnel in the use of digital cameras, printers and color management. His work with the military included traveling throughout the US installing and configuring digital cameras, printers and software.

Geoff has worked with Federal and Local government agencies and corporations training individuals and groups in the use of digital cameras, scanners, printers and color management in order to optimize their digital workflow. He has also worked with Federal and State Law Enforcement agencies teaching introductory and advanced digital imaging.

Geoff received his first camera, a Kodak Brownie Fiesta, at age seven while living overseas in Taiwan.  Since that time his passion for photography has never waned, as he became the family documentarian and was encouraged by his dads’ enthusiasm for photography.

In college Geoff majored in Biology; studying such subjects as Botany, Ecology, Algae and Fungi. He has a strong connection with the natural world and enjoys hiking, biking, and camping. His first love has always been photography. He chose to combine the best of both worlds and has been a nature and landscape photographer for most of his adult life. He enjoys recording the spectrum of nature from the smallest details on the forest floor to the grandest vista of a scenic mountaintop.
