HARPERS FERRY - July 28th, 2012

We shall journey into the past at the cross roads of our local history.  Harpers Ferry is the meeting point for Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia at the juncture of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers.

Harpers Ferry is great for scenic work along the rivers, old restored buildings and shops, and the goings on in the town.

Wide Angle lenses are recommended along with macro/micro lenses as well as short telephoto lenses.

We shall meet early in the morning to capture the morning light and walk quite a bit throughout the day into very early afternoon photographing a multitude of subjects and stories.  Photography is the telling of your stories.

This will be a great workshop for shooting both color and black and white and studying and utilizing the varied tones of old structures for our own creative concepts.

Bring comfortable shoes and of course clothing for our typical July heat and humidity. Keep in mind that there are some local hills, so pick your gear carefully.  Travel as light weight as your gear will allow.

My recommendation if I was shooting would be the equivalent of:

28mm
50mm
105mm
Light weight Tripod
Light weight bag - back pack would be the smartest.
Water bottle
cable release

Your instructor Geoff Archer is an avid historian as well as a great photographer and educator.  I will be accompanying Geoff.  I am Elliot and I am not a historian.
