In the last 30-odd years, I have judged countless competitions in local camera clubs. While continually impressed by the breadth and depth of talent, I’ve also been aware of the most common mistakes that make an otherwise good image just miss the mark. When that mistake disqualifies an image from competition, no matter how good or even great the attempt, it saddens me. While I always try to point out what I believe the shortcoming was and a way to correct it, I wonder if any of that advice is ever heard at that moment. We, indeed, all have to learn somehow, someway, so this presentation seeks to present the most common errors we all make (yes, I go through the same check list to safeguard myself!) and the best way to correct or prevent it. We all invest a lot of time and money to make good images, and this presentation will give you the tools to ensure that you do it once AND do it right.
